Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.
Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel presently gain from a 20p however that is because of end next April.
The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.
Mr George said «a variety of small companies in Cornwall currently make money from utilized cooking oil».
He added: «In order to be able to get this type of industry going it does require simply a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inevitable.»
Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
