Guitarist Carlos Santana was born July 20, 1947, in Autlan de Navarro, Mexico. In the early 1960s he moved to San Francisco where he formed the Santana Blues Band in 1966. In San Francisco, the young guitar player got the chance to see his idols, most especially King, carry out live.
