Albums
Toto’s discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band played session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
The band’s third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group’s lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was well-loved by fans and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock band from the United States that was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The group is comprised of six members: vocalist/guitarist Steve Lukather, bassist David Paich, keyboardist/vocalist Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarist/vocalist Joseph Williams. The diverse range of influences that the group has makes it one of the most popular groups ever. The band’s music was featured in more than 200 films and television shows, including The Godfather & The Prince of Egypt.
The band Toto IV released in 1983 earned them international praise. The band began an international tour to promote the album after its success. During the tour, lead singer Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. The band decided to let him go at the conclusion of the tour, and they hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams in his place. David Hungate, the drummer, also left the group following the tour. Leland Sklar was his replacement.
The TOTO Museum is a futuristic building with several exhibition rooms that are dedicated to presenting the story of the company and its most innovative products. Its exhibits include toilets, faucets and tableware that have supported the expansion of the TOTO brand over the last half century. The museum also hosts special exhibits throughout the year.

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The group has also released numerous compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the band is «Africa» which has over one billion views. The video is set in a library with the band performing atop the stack of African books.
The track «Africa» is from the album Toto IV. It was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto gain popularity after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
Toto embarked on a worldwide tour following the release their album. The group featured tour musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. In addition, guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985 the drummer Fergie Frederiksen left Toto due to personal reasons. Toto held an audition to find the replacement for Frederiksen.
Before and during the formation of Toto its members, they did session work for a variety of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate were on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to the band’s formation. Keyboardist Paich was regular on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album became a huge hit and the band went on tour to promote the album.

Toto is famous for their popular song «Africa» Recently, the band came together to promote their latest album, All In. The album, released on the 6th of November, 2018 included three new tracks from their forthcoming album 40 Trips Around the Sun as well as completed recordings of four previously released tracks featuring Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also included a cover of Weezer’s song «Hash Pipe» which the band opted to include after hearing a version on the radio.

Toto has also recorded soundtracks for a variety of television and film series.
Toto was formed in Los Angeles, California by friends from high school, David Paich, Steve Lukather and brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. The group became one of the most listened-to rock bands in the world and has sold more than 40 million albums.
